We are thinking of upgrading our front doors to wrought iron and full iron door. We currently have wood doubles doors with glass. It's so common looking even though they are pretty I just wanted to upgrade to something nicer. I talked to some door companies and of course they said Iron doors are fine for Colorado. Apparently even in warmer states there can be some condensation with weather fluctuations. Just wondering if anyone in here has iron doors and if you had any issues?

We have double wrought iron doors with glass, as do many of our neighbors. They are 12 years old, and they are still in very good condition. Now, we are not in Colorado, we are in Houston, so obviously, they aren't exposed to much cold, but there is a lot of humidity, sun and salt here (we are on the water). The only issues we've had with the doors is that when the glass is not closed properly after being opened, water gets in when it rains, but this is user error, not an issue with the door itself. Also, dirt, leaves, cobwebs etc can get stuck in all the nooks and crannies in the iron, so you have to be sure to clean them. They're pretty darn heavy too.

I think they look very nice, and I'd say overall, we've been happy with them.

We have an over hang so the door shouldn't be exposed to a lot of sun or snow, but I did read that the doors can get very hot or cold and can get some condensation.

I doubt you are getting wrought iron.
Steel.
This is why we have the Wikipedia.

And how can Wikipedia help me? Does it own one of these doors, have experience with them? I don't know where you are coming from with your post?

What is your problem? I asked a simple question and you turned it into this. I don't know if old age is making you this way or if you are just inherently just a difficult person. You are making no sense.

We had custom doors and railings for our patio made. The doors which were under cover, showed little signs of aging after 6 years. The railings, exposed to weather 24/7 showed signs of rust at the welds and fading in color. We are currently in the Denver area and have sold the house. Had we stayed, we would have painted the railings.

You asked a question about doors and demonstrated your lack of knowledge about iron vs steel.
As an engineer, I feel obligated to point out the difference.

A REAL engineer would have been able to answer my original question. Go play make believe somewhere else.
