Hi- Looking for someone who has lived in DC and can compare Denver to DC in terms of neighborhoods. Is there anything like Dupont Circle in Denver in terms of walkability to everything within 25 minutes, cool housing stock, great independently owned places, natural/organic foods, farmer's market, very liberal, not many kids, etc. ? Thanks!

Well then I'd come explore. Denver is tiny compared to DC.

Are you buying or renting? single family or attached housing?

Very dissimilar cities with dissimilar neigbhorhoods. There's nothing like Dupont Circle in Denver, but the closest thing would be Capital Hill.

For those who don't know, Dupont Circle is an ecletic, upscale, centrally located, very urban and predominantly gay neighborhood in DC. It has a great vibe, and was my favorite neighborhood (especially compared to boring Northern Virginia where I lived) for many reasons including it's great walkability, lots of interesting shops and things to do. In fact it was one of the few DC neighborhoods that reminded me a lot of New York City and that, of course, is why I liked it. My wife actually worked in Dupont Circle for a year or so, this was before I met her.

Capital Hill and/or Uptown are both very walkable and eclectic neighborhoods. Not quite on par with DC culturally, but will meet your criteria to a large extent.

Dupont circle is much nicer and is more grown up than these two areas. The closest we come to it within Denver is the Cherry Creek area which is Dupont Circle with a slight west Hollywood vibe.

You maybe sort of could get some of the same vibe in the Platte Park neighborhood just outside of LoDo but really while many of the *things* the OP desires are possible Denver is just such a radically different city in almost every way that it won't feel the same.

Denver has twice the land area and 99.7% of the pop of DC.

I agree, Denver is not tiny...

That being said, Denver and Washington, D.C. are similar in city population however, when comparing metro areas, the D.C. area is almost 3 times as large when factoring in Baltimore:

Washington/Baltimore/Northern VA: 8,572,971
Denver/Aurora/Boulder: 3,090,874
