Hello Folks,
We're moving to a place west of Denver from I-70. I'll need to commute into the Aurora area (E. Alameda & Colorado Blvd) from the area of El Rancho, Co.

What is the commute time in an area like that?
Where does the traffic begin to build up?
And what would the AM & PM Commute time look like?

Right now, I live just outside of Washington DC - so traffic is always a concern.

Thanks

Alameda & Colorado is in Denver (maybe Glendale) not Aurora - 45-75 minutes in traffic. I-70 to 6th Ave to Speer/1st/steele/CC Drive North.

You need to think about winter driving. This commute, well up into the foothills, will be difficult and I mean "white knuckle driving", at times, to and from Glendale. There will be times you may not be able to get home, so be prepared to spend the night at work.

That will be quite the commute, both AM and PM. I would say at least an hour in good weather and traffic conditions, much longer if anything goes the least bit awry. You could mapquest it, see what they say. I find their times fairly accurate around Denver.

I would say traffic starts to build up east-bound around Golden. Actually, there is always a fair amt of traffic coming out of the mtns. West bound, traffic will be bad through Golden. It starts to thin out once you start going up the hill.

My DH used to work in Genessee. There were very few days he couldn't get to work (from Louiville), even in the dead of winter. But then, not every winter has a lot of snow. He was not working there last winter, when we did get a lot of snow. The final descent into Denver on I-70 (I beleive it is Floyd Hill?) is a documented dangerous road, too. He never had an accident, but some of his co-workers did.
