I was on Pearl off of Evans. There were cars parked in front of and behind me and no signs that I could see, so I assumed all was okay. Seemed fairly residential, too. I wasn't there for long - must have still been hot off the press when I got back to my car. The cars in front of me had left, and now I could see that a ways down the block there was a little sign, up high, saying "No Parking," and in finer print, "on the first Wednesday of the month from blah to blah."

First Wednesday of the Month. Is this some kind of Denver parking holiday?

Wow. $50. Welcome to Denver. Won't make that mistake again.

Should be for street sweeping. Get 3 tickets and you are awarded the "Denver boot"

Only for April-November. So, there are some months when you can park.

I can tell you that parking Nazi (aka meter maid) hits our street at 0801 on certain Thursdays. They are ruthless.

I find the best maneuver is to tie my horse out front and move the automobile into the horse barn. The horse has yet to get a ticket.

So I'm assuming it must be different days on the different sides of the street.

Is it uniform and is there a rule of thumb we can follow? Or do I need to learn each neighborhood where I'm parking? Assuming this Denver-wide? Must mean a heckuva lot of signage.

Yes, you do need to pay attention to the signs everywhere.

In my old neighborhood of Bonnie Brae there are no signs as the residents thought they were ugly. So, you have "to know" when the street sweeping occurs.

This is why Tim Berners Lee invented the web as we know it.

Just got to be more observant, but I'm pretty sure they really hit it hard in April as most people forget that long gap from December-March about parking days.

Even more interesting, sometimes they don't even sweep the streets, yet will still give a ticket, PLUS I believe the restriction is only from 8-5pm?

I agree, I got a ticket for not having a front license plate! The thing is I was in the car parked in front of a client's house and I saw the meter car and they just drove by. I wondered if I parked in the wrong place, I saw I parked in the right place, I also saw that I wasn't more than 6 inches from the sidewalk (This was a law in Texas and I had just moved here like 3 months ago at that time). Everything seemed fine. I walked in the house and about 10 minutes later went outside and saw the ticket! I had the license plate on the front windshield, but was told it needed to be put in the front. (I had no way of putting it there as it didn't have that license plate holder thingy). I finally got it put on by some portrait wire going around the grill, but still I was upset. They did cut the ticket in half, but I've been told had it been an officer they may have let me go with a warning and I would have got it fixed that day.

Well you could just pay it or you could just send a letter demanding a verified complaint on the ticket.

Thats your constitutional right to face your accuser, so they can state their injury in the form of a document and signed in front of a Notary.

Well first the person/meter maid issuing the ticket was not injured so there is no way for to comply with your demand and the court will not provide this document unless you demand it.

Now many on this site will laugh at this advice , but most likely they have not tried this defence.

I can say I have used it and it did get the case dismissed

When my wife and I lived in Alamo Placita we would park on the street. During that year we lived there we got about $700 in tickets....mostly for street sweeping....
