So we recently moved from Connecticut to Denver. I have been pleasantly surprised about the food choices, especially ethnic.

Compared to East Coast (I'm giving NY and Boston a negative, due to long commute into the city for food. . .so its more suburb to suburb)

Negatives
- Pizza. Yeah, this is a tough gap. Nothing can make up for a coal fired white claim pizza (local clams) from a place open since 1933. And if you like Clam, the pizza is to die for

- Seafood. duh?

Positives

- Mexican. For some reason, I just don't think Connecticut sees as many Mexican immigrants as Peruvian or Guatemala. You can get Peru food (with cerviches) and the like. . .but finding a decent Mexican restaurant in CT is impossible. Since Moving here I've tried some pretty decent Mexican restaurants, all with Orchata (a required).

-Asian. I have already found Ban Mi (SIC?) the Vietnamese sandwich from the gods, fantastic Pho, Dim Sum, and a great sit down traditional american-Chinese restaurant. Its nice to know I can easily decide between Chicken Feet and General Tso(s). . .nice Asian flexibility. - oh and no shortage of Bubble Tea.

-Burger. You have five guys. LarkBurger was unexceptional. Always open for other options. ..but price/quality Five Guys is great.

- Hot dog - Biker Jim(s). . .sure Jim seems to have an issue with Foi Gra (the similar restaurant in Chicago "Hot Doug" has no such qualms). Even without a Foi Gra hotdog. . .which I do miss. . .this place beats any sausage/dog place outside of Chicago. Who wants beef?

ON THE BORDER

Breakfast - I've had mixed. . but decent places (like Gaia) and medicore and overhyped (Toast in littleton). We shall see where this one ends up.

So overall I'm pretty happy with what I've seen. Lots of choices, all of which within 30 minutes.

I'd kill for a Jersey-style diner. And a decent slice - still searching, but have found acceptable facsimiles.

But the vegetarian options, green chili, microbrews and places like Euclid Hall and Biker Jim's make it all worth it

Burger - Park Burger in Platt Plark
Diner - Breakfast King on Mississippi (near Santa Fe). Not the right shape, but stylistically close.

I haven't been impressed with any BBQ here, granted I haven't tried every place but just compared to the south anyway.

Breakfast here seems like a bigger deal, more fancy breakfast places open like 7am-2pm, this is very unusual where I moved from in FL.

Everything seems good though, don't have many complaints about the food here

I have not done a lot of BBQ searching, but I was in a zero-BBQ zone in CT.

Snooze has the best breakfasts I have ever eaten in my life. The breakfast pot pie is to DIE for.

Do expect a wait.

For Burgers you should try Cherry Cricket.

We need a good Pizza place!

LOL - I know I blaspheme when I say this, but Snooze doesn't really do it for me. I like ... Waffle House.

I took my best friend to Snooze when she visited though, because it was one of those "landmark" places for tourists. She looked up over her pancakes and said "Sweetie, these are very good pancakes. But they're not $10 pancakes. Can we just go to Waffle House tomorrow?"

Basically our reaction was a resounding "meh."

Protos has clam pizza Friday nights. I'd wager the clams are less than local though.
