I am moving near Denver in just over a week and the threat of fires is kindof frightening the BeJeeZus outta me.

I'll be living in the middle of Englewood where there is little to spread the fire (besides buildings), but I'm aware of the fact that these fires can jump highways and railroads easily.

Can anyone give me a more realistic overview of these fires since I'm reluctant to trust NBC/ABC/CBS news and their "BREAKING STORY" alerts?'

And sorry for the excessive use of Smileys.. but they're fun.

It doesn't matter where you live, you cannot avoid natural hazards.

This just might end up being the "Katrina" of Colorado.

Not much of a threat in the least for wildfires where you are relocating.

I just cannot picture Mayor Michael Hancock saying: "We as black people, it's time, it's time for us to come together. It's time for us to rebuild a [Denver], the one that should be a chocolate [Denver] . And I don't care what people are saying Uptown or wherever they are. This city will be chocolate at the end of the day."

Middle of Denver I wouldn't worry, just a "normal" risk as it would in any city. The only areas of Denver metro that probably have to worry more about wildfires are Boulder, Golden, west Lakewood, Morrison, and west/southwest Littleton near like Deer Creek Canyon

I bet this guy doesn't go swimming in Florida, because of shark week

I live in the DTC Area (englewood/greenwood village) and I can't see smoke.. . .we couldn't see anything until we went north.

Plus I've never heard of a wildfire doing anything than eating up people rural homes and rural suburbs. I would be pretty impressed if the wildfire went through Denver, headed south, then destroyed englewood. Pretty impressive for sure

Are you living in Englewood proper or somewhere south of Denver that has an Englewood mailing address? Either way, at least as things stand right now, the risk is fairly low for any of the fires to spread to Englewood and the Tech Center area.

Might make one hell of a movie....starring Adam Sandler as the inept Fire Marshall Bill who sets backfires every few blocks.....
