Well, our house in Atlanta went under contract in one day (hallelujah) and our Parkwood home we're building in Conservatory Green won't be done till May. Having a tough time finding something big enough for our family of 4 + dog. The rental market so so ridiculously tight! Anyone have any inside scoop on finding a rental? We're coming back out in a couple weeks, and I'm wondering if people put for rent signs up (worth driving around?) or if I should just depend on Padmapper, Craigslist and TJC. We can sign a lease starting Aug 1st thru Sept 1st (we have a corporate housing option). Help! Thanks guys...

While the for sale market has changed drastically in the past few years, you may try to find someone who is attempting to sell there home and has been on the market for a while with no luck. I would identify possible properties through a mls search and then just send a well written letter to all of them seeing if they would be interested in renting short term. You are looking for people who are carrying two mortgages and need cash fast.

I did this successfully in Stapleton in 2007 when I was in between houses. We were thinking of buying there but wanted to rent for a little while to get a feel for the place.

Also...to answer your question...Craigslist is the best source for rentals in Stapleton that I have found. You can also contact the Kearns (see - Stapleton Area Rentals | Homes, Condos and Apartments for Rent in and Around Stapleton, Denver CO) to see if they have any upcoming rentals. But I think Stapleton Moms Yahoo Group will work nicely since you may be able to connect with individuals that are considering putting their home up for rent.

So here's my update. You guys will like this! I've got it narrowed down to 3. One from Craigslist, one from Kearns Team, and one from scouting out listings in MLS. I asked to join the Stapleton Moms group, but still waiting for approval.

We're hopefully looking at all 3 when we come out 7/14.

I'm pretty sure one is ours if we want it. The other 2 will probably be gone.
