I do remember loving downtown, but it was expensive even then and my husband likes the suburbs a little more than I do. We are heading up now with the kids and dog. Any places to stay the weekend that accepts dogs and has a park nearby to let the kiddos run off some steam?

Check The Curtis. It's downtown so you will be right in the center of action. Confluence Park is very close by. They do allow dogs.

They were booked but found a nice place nonetheless. Scouting out downtown tomorrow for fun, then Littleton and Englewood to be a little more realistic. Hitting Colorado Springs Monday.

I too want to move out of Phoenix my wife and I are tired of the dusty hot town. We actually like snow we both snowboard in the winter and like the temperature when it is 30-40 degrees. I never understood why people complain about driving in snow never bothers me much. I'm looking to get out of here next year we are looking at Colorado. I didn't realize how costly the homes are in Denver to live in a nice area. I guess with inflation just have to come to grips that 20 years ago 250k homes are now $500-600k homes. What's the property taxes like in Denver area?

Property taxes aren't bad at all. A typical $225,000 house paid $1,500 last year.

Calculating Your Property Taxes

Each suburb has their own taxes so be sure to check if you aren't living in Denver. Also, certain areas of the city have special additional taxes, like Stapleton.

There is a ballot measure this year to fund schools that will raise property taxes, but we won't know about that until November.

I hear about cherry creek schools being good and I see a couple neighborhoods in Aurora have CC schools and fit our price range. How about Littleton schools?

Market price x 0.7% will get you close.

Go take a look around Havana & Orchard. Older neighborhood, Cherry Creek Schools, a few houses in the $3XX,000 range surrounded by some very expensive homes.

No. Some people go for the cluttered yard decorative thing. You can't really see the toilet bowl for all the other stuff in the front and back yard.
