Hi all,

As far as neighborhoods go, we really dont want to land up in the twenties/thirties something area surrounded by new and developing families, as wonderful as they are... as the saying goes "been there, done that" and now we would prefer a more 'mature' community area. New job is in Downtown, but we are very open to commuting up to 30min, public or own transport. Crime free as possible would be nice and no 'clone zone' developments please - $350,000 max.
Any Ideas?

I'd look in Wash Park, Cory Merril, Hilltop, Park Hill, Highlands all in Denver. Vibrant, walkable, large trees, close to parks...older homes.

You are in good company - Denver is the number one empty nester destination in the US! I would suggest older neighborhoods in Littleton or Centennial, west of I-25....maybe south Denver.

Not sure there are $350K houses very close to Downtown.
Maybe in the Highlands neighborhood.
But I think further south, as Southdenver guy suggested, would be advisable.

Once you get to the state streets going south, Denver looks more suburban than urban, and definitely more cookie cutter.

Thanks for this info:
We recently spent a weekend in Denver and visited all the above mentioned areas + some! It is a lovely city and I think it will be very lively over the summer season, so I think we may look towards Lakewood (its close but not too expensive, the lofts downtown are amazing but $$) - are there any specific parts in the Lakewood neighborhoods
that we should avoid eg..gangs/crime etc.?

it all depends on what you want. Talk to the Lakewood Police department about crime. If you like the LoDo lofts, you may like Belmar. If you like
older suburban ranches with yards...well that is just about the rest of the city. If you like to be closer to the foothills...try Green Mountain.
