I have been researching schools in denver because we probably won't be limited on location by jobs (work from home). We want to have options for the best schools for our kids 2nd and 4th grade next year. Denver public school system has a school request form/open enrollment form.

What would you list as 3 of the top elementary schools in DPS school system? My kids are coming from a rigorous classic liberal arts charter school. I could take or leave the classic liberal arts piece but do want them to be challenged. I understand everyone has really different views on schools but just want to know what some of the more desirable schools are.

In theory, we could find a house that is reasonably near a good school if we get into it. We won't be up in denver until feb and of course the form is due in Jan.

Don't rely on school of choice. If you want your kidlettes to go to a specific school only look at housing within the boundary area.

Bromwell (minimum house price is $600K)
Steck
Slavens (K-8)
Cory
are the top DPS elementary schools in no particular order and there is ZERO open enrollment for them. In fact, they make you prove that you live inside the boundary.

I am a little confused by your post. The title mentions Jeffco schools while the post itself talks about Denver Public Schools. Those are two different districts.

Denver Public Schools covers the City and County of Denver.

Jefferson County Public Schools covers Jefferson County and a small part of southern Broomfield County.

Which do you mean?

I've changed the title of the thread to reflect the OP's intent. Thanks to all for sorting it out.

All the schools that davebarnes mentioned. Also consider Carson, Swigert, and Westerly Creek. Polaris is outstanding for kids that qualify.

Are there dps schools (I think highline academy might be one) that are not neighborhood schools but are lottery only schools? Good ones that is!
