Black Hawk is 45 minutes from downtown. 30 minutes from Golden. Just check google maps for exact directions.

Ameristar has games going 24/7 and only place that usually has higher stakes than 1/2-100 games. Has a 30-60 limit game and a 2/5-100 game going almost all the time. Isle of Capri has tried to get other games going, but hasn't been able to do it. Gates usually has games going 24/7, but often it gets down to just one or two small games.

If you want to see what action they have and have a smartphone get the Bravo Poker app. It is tied into the sign up boards at poker rooms nationwide and all the rooms up in Blackhawk are tied in.

Just FYI, you will never get into an Ameristar game on weekend nights. That is, unless you like waiting on lists that are 57 people long.

I usually go to Golden Gates (it really is the only worthwhile place for tournaments). The Lodge sucks. Ameristar is cool, but the wait. Isle of Capri is low key. Lady Luck was better before it moved out of the basement, now the poker room is in a louder location.

Golden Gates usually has at least one table going 24/7. During the week pre-dawn, there may not be one, but that's just because there's nobody around.
