Drafting our obligatory pros/cons list, which also includes a "things you can do here but not there" section, and thought it'd be interesting to get input from the CD crowd.

So: what would you add to the list entitled "Things you can do in Denver that you can't do in San Diego"? And vice versa.

I'm looking for serious responses, but I know I'll get some sarcastic/campy/witty ones too, so don't hold back!

I'll start with a few obvious ones for "Things you can do in San Diego but not Denver":

- Go scuba diving or snorkeling without getting on an airplane
- Go to the beach/see the ocean
- Drive to Mexico

Scrape snow off your car
Freeze to death
Get a sunburn in 15 minutes

Oh, you wanted serious ones?

Go to Elitch's? (I don't recall SD having a regular amusement park, other than LegoLand)
Go skiing for the day and be back home the same night

Outside of cold weather activities, I can't think of much of anything. Both cities have a lot to offer, and an outdoorsy vibe to them.

Those are serious ones worthy of consideration!

We can do that here (Big Bear, east of LA). Though the quality of the snow (much of which is man-made) is, I'm certain, hardly comparable to CO snow.

Well that is 150 miles from San Diego and it is a crappy mountain. 60 miles from Denver you have some very good mountains.

Things you can do in Denver:
Enjoy 4 seasons. (Sometimes in a 24 hour period)
World class snow-sports
Concerts at Red Rocks (arguably the most outstanding concert venue in the nation)
Downtown Denver offers more than downtown San Diego IMO.
Real estate is slightly less expensive

Honestly San Diego is one of the few cities I think I would be happy living in outside of Denver. Tough choice. No wrong answer unless you don't like cold weather.

Sea World in San Diego is turning into a amusement park.
