My husband and I (late 20s/30s) will be moving to the Denver area this summer; we do not have children yet. I will most likely be working in Highlands Ranch. We are hoping to rent a pet-friendly 2 bedroom apartment or townhome. Hoping to spend no more than $1400-$1500.

The following includes our wish-list:
-building with some amenities (fitness center/fireplace) if possible and at least 1 parking
-walkable area in immediate vicinity or nearby-Close to parks, trails, interesting and varied restaurants. Ideally near markets for fresh ingredients.
-30 minutes or less driving to Highlands Ranch
-Safe
-Fairly close to public transportation

Does anyone have suggestions for where we should start our search?
Thanks.

I take it you would kind of want to live in between HR and WP? The reason I ask is because both areas would be ideal for living arrangements. WP probably is more expensive but since you have no kids would fit your lifestyle better. I live in HR and it is a soccer mom paradise.

Yes, we were thinking of living in between, but are open to suggestions. How is the traffic?

Depending on your budget, Centennial/Greenwood Village/parts of Englewood would kind of split the difference, or south denver along the light rail line. Some of the southern neighborhoods of Denver like Observatory Park, Southmoor, Cory-Merrill, etc. may also be nice.

And there's always Glendale, that weird little village inside Denver, right off Colorado Blvd.

Thanks philberf, why is Glendale a "weird little village"? We will look into those areas and see what we find.

It is actually called the Village of Glendale, and it's basically a bunch of apartments and stores that are smack dab in the middle of Denver. If you google it, you'll see what I mean.
