I'll come out with complete honesty and admit I'm a poor college kid that would love nothing more than to go skiing this season. But tickets are so darn expensive. I bet they offer discounts under certain conditions, but I don't know what those are, or if there are just opportunities to buy them cheaper elsewhere. You folks know anything that might be of use to me?

Best two deals I know of are a Loveland Mid Week pass for $259 or a Keystone/A-Basin for two hundred something. Either are great deals IF you ski more than 8-10 times. Otherwise get the 4-Pack @ Loveland for $120.

Early pre-season sales generally have the best deals.

But you need to be realistic about what the pass offers you. If you're only going to be able to ski a few days, then a multiple day use pass isn't going to be a savings. I know more than a few folk who buy season passes and then only ski a few days each year due to work/school and other time commitments.

In light of being a "poor college kid" ... do you really have that many skiing days available to you? Consider that the ski pass itself, while a substantial expense, may be only a part of each day's skiing cost. Travel to the ski area, food & lodging can add up very quickly to another expensive day.

Some of the best prices I have seen are at the end of the season and you are buying a season pass for the upcoming ski season.

Something to keep in mind is that skiing is VERY expensive. I'm not sure of your experience skiing, so recommendations will vary. For the inexperienced (myself included), Loveland is a perfectly capable mounting for me to get my ski fix. For more experienced skiers, I know people who stay away from Loveland and go elsewhere.

For Loveland, you can get a 4-pak for 129.
Colorado Ski Package: Ski Package Package in Colorado

For 379, you can get a Loveland season pass which includes 3 days at Monarch, Durango and Crested Butte.

Also, the Ski Expo is coming up and I know a lot of the ski places will be there selling discounted passes.

Some of the resorts offer discounts for college students on sale days. Check with your college - someone at the rec center probably has insights into this.

If you, as a student, open a Wells Fargo checking account they'll give you a 2-for-1 season pass coupon for Winter Park/Copper Mountain.

I remember as an undergrad at DU the credit card companies used to park it on the bridge and hawk their crappy cards with awesome ski pass incentives. Maybe you could masquerade as a student, fill out a phony application, and score the promo.

I'm not sure how you feel about fraud, but it's a viable option .

Since the OP said he or she was a poor college kid, I don't think it would be fraud to look for deals that are offered to students.....
