I will be moving to the Denver/Greenwood Village area in late August for school, I am considered morbidly obese, but I am active for my size it may be a little harder but I love hiking with my dogs and just exploring. I know Colorado is where being obese is a rarity, so will befriending people or finding a romantic relationship be almost impossible?
School and studying will keep me busy almost all the time but I would like to make friends and the school I will be going to is 80% females so I imagine it maybe a little difficult for a normal size woman but for a bigger women like myself I am a little worried.

Don't believe the hype. From what I see there are many people here who are not fit, and many are overweight. The culture is fitness because of all the outdoor activities and the extreme popularity of gyms. Not everyone participates in those activities. I think you'll be fine.

No worries...you'll fit in just fine in the Denver area. There are a lot of super fit athletes here, but just as many who aren't cover models for Shape magazine.

I don't think anyone will bother you over it any more than some other city. There are obese people in Denver, just not as many as Dallas or Houston, for instance.

I don't believe it'll be much different than where you currently reside. People probably won't harass you or anything crazy.

And on the plus side, if you are committed to getting out and walking/exercising, there are lots and lots of places to do that and people do it with out here. Could help create a positive change in your size/health. I know many times, just that change of environment can be good for kicking off a new food/exercise program - if that interests you.

As noted, even in Denver, people come in all shapes and sizes. You will be fine.

Don't be so hard on yourself. You'll be A-ok in Denver girlfriend. And you're going to LOVE the hiking in Colorado.

Just a heads up-altitude is going to kick your butt especially for your size. So be prepared to not to be able to be very active for a bit until you get used to it. I'm in shape and it took me some time to get used to myself. If you decide to hike-great exercise and many novice trails-just take your time and bring lots of water. I purchased a backpack that holds water so you don't have anything in your hands. Some walking poles would probably really help you until you get in shape/used to altitude. Good luck
