This is also one of my biggest pet peeves living here. I think people are delusional if they don't realize the liability something like this causes. If anyone has an accident, if they are smart, the first thing they should do is take pictures of trees that are obstructing views of Stop Signs and Intersections, and them provide those to their Insurance Agent and Police when making a report. What if an an accident involves an injury?

Same things with people that don't ever shovel their sidewalks, especially people who have North facing sidewalks.

Someone from the city was at our intersection the other day measuring trees and distance from stop signs. I live on a corner with a stop sign, so I keep my tree trimmed that could hide the sign. I had them come out a couple years ago and put "reverse stop signs" up at our 4 way stop - meaning they put another sign on the back side of the sign so you can see it across the intersection. People were blowing through the intersection all the time.

Do they give out tickets for unshoveled sidewalks the way they do for the unmowed grass? I didn't call 311 but there were a couple of times I had been thinking about it. I guess the big difference is that the snow almost always melts off in a couple of days but the grass just keeps getting worse and worse.

Yea but the snow is a health hazard if left to ice up whereas the grass is just a first world inconvenience / eye sore. Nobody has ended up in the hospital because of unmowed lawns!

Sorry to be, blunt, but as a former NYer I always tend to mind my own business. If someone doesn't want to mow their lawn that's their prerogative. If you want a place where lawn care is enforced there are plenty of communities with HOAs that are more restrictive but otherwise we keep to ourselves and mind our own business. When it comes to unshoveled snow, that's a different story since someone can really hurt themselves. I would have no qualms about calling 311 for that.

My 2 cents, if someone told me what to do with my lawn I'd tell them to **** off. With that said, *I* like to not be "that guy" on the block. All my neighbors take care of their front yards and I do the same so as to not be a blight on my neighborhood but I can't tell other people what to do.

So, funny to run across this thread. This is something I've noticed for a while. Used to take my dog to the dog park and have been asked SEVERAL times if I like in Stapleton and that the dog park is exclusive to Stapleton (I've been told by the board this is not the case). I've also got this question asked of me when I've attended other events in that area. The redevelopment is nice, but I hate how folks have moved in and made others who have lived/worked in Parkhill FOR YEARS...feel like an outsider.

I'd just tell them where to stick it and move on with my day honestly. Although to be fair while i disagree with this thinking Stapleton residents do pay higher taxes to pay for these perks. Someone correct me if I am wrong but that was my understanding. Still who cares what some doofus from Stapleton thinks - so long as you aren't breaking any laws don't let it get to you. I also live in park hill and love the charm of our neighborhood. Stapleton is nice in its own right but not my cup of tea.

Yes, Stapleton pays higher taxes than the rest of Denver to build and support local infrastructure.

However, most of us are also aware that despite Stapleton residents paying more taxes directly for the local parks, they are still public and accessible to everyone.

I understand that the parks like Central Park and Westerly Creek are "city" parks, so of course they're open to the public. My assumption was that so are the "pocket parks", although I rarely see anyone in them other than Stapleton residents. Same with the pools... I only see Stapleton residents at the pool. I know "outsiders" can pay to get in, but it's rather expensive.

I also would never think that the dog park was for Stapleton only. Isn't that a city run park??

And I'd love to ticket a few people for poor lawn and tree upkeep in Stapleton. If you can't take care of your landscaping, buy a paired home/condo or town home!

Pocket parks are also city parks and are publicly accessible, just like the pocket parks in Lowry and in other areas of Denver. Pools are publicly accessible as well, although you have to pay a daily fee whereas Stapleton residents pay a monthly master association fee and that covers their pool admission for the entire season.

Paired homes are the same as single family homes as far as landscaping and maintenance - I own a paired home and am responsible for all my own yard work, snow shoveling, etc. The exception would be courtyard homes which pay a secondary HOA fee, but those can be single family houses as well as paired houses. Condos and townhouses are like condos and townhouses elsewhere and they pay a condo or HOA fee. But each half of a paired house is individually owned, just like a single family.
