Hey there,

Anyone knows of a place where one can learn DIY / Homeowner skills? Especially for a person whose father can't even screw in a lightbulb?

I am pretty handy, but we grew up poor and rented all our lives. Now that I'm a homeowner I'd love to learn basic DIY skills - specifically towards simple plumbing and electrical work. I am pretty handy, and have fixed most things myself with the help of YouTube but I just can't stomach touching plumbing or electrical work without some training. I'd also like recommendations for basic DIY skills as they relate to homeownership - so for example I can patch drywall, but never got the knockdown pattern to match so I am sure I can learn that from someone.

Anyone knows of a such a place?

I think Home Depot has clinics on the weekends. Stop by your local store and see if they have a schedule.

+1 on Home Depot. Also try searching You Tube for videos on projects you want to complete.
