Can anyone tell me anything about the area surrounding the U of CO Hospital? I am looking into an apartment in the area. Is there any decent dining/nightlife around? How walkable is the area? Safe? What would a cab ride to LoDo cost?

Any info you can give me would be appreciated!

15th Street is considered Colfax and there are many restaurants in that area. I love the Star Cafe and Tommy's Tai, but for nightclubs, you will want LoDo or SoCo. A cab ride to SoCo clubs would be about $10.00, a fourth of that is just for opening the door and sitting down. A ride to LoDo, could be the same or up to $15.00, depending on the route and traffic. 13th and 14th are one way streets trough Capitol Hill, coming and going to the downtown area. There are a few more restaurants at 8th and Colorado, mostly fast food, Chipotle, Spicy Pickle, Starbucks, Heidi's, and Tai Basil. Further down south on Colorado and hang a right at 3rd, 2nd or 1st and go in about 1/2 mile, you will find the Cherry Creek shopping area. Which contains just about anything you could want, but also the most expensive area in the city for shopping. I love Zaidy's deli and Little Olie's Chinese food. The mall has Saks, Neiman, Nordstom, etc. Check out Denver - News for clubbing information. Best dance places are in SoCo (stands for south of Colfax, on Lincoln or on Broadway).

Don't know much about cabs...but the busride is only 1.75 each way!!!

Nice neighborhood. Very safe. Great walking, especially along Hale Parkway and 6th Ave Parkway.

Erawan Thai Restaurant at 8th & Colorado is really nice. Nightlife isn't stellar...most activities are little ways to the west.
