I will be in Denver for New Year's and for a couple of days before and after. Do you have any recommendations for me? What can't be missed? I'm so looking forward to visiting your city! Thanks in advance for your help.

P.S. What sort of clothing should I bring? I was definitely going to layer, and I have a big Moncler coat that I don't get much wear out of in NC.

Recommendations for what? What do you like to do? Hiking? Brew pubs? Shopping? Mountains? How old are you?

Are you going to be in central Denver? Will you have a car?

Bring a warm jacket. Even if it's sunny and in the 50s during the day it'll cool off rapidly once the sun goes down.

Thanks for the advice Re: Warm clothing!

I will be staying downtown, yes. I will not have a car with me. I was thinking primarily cultural attractions (museums, etc.), but I'm open to any suggestions! I also know that I would like to visit the Cherry Creek shopping center.

It will depend somewhat on what cultural attractions are open over the holidays. Everything's likely to be closed on NYD, which is a Sunday, maybe Monday for the federal observation of the holiday. Plus some of these places are closed Mondays anyway. That said, there is the Denver Art Museum, Colorado History Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, the Zoo, which I believe is open 365 days /year, Denver Botanic Gardens which will have its light up display and was open on New Year's night last year when we went, the Capital Building, the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, just to name a few.

Take the bus to Boulder for the day -- theres a few trails that are accessible from downtown that would probably be good day hikes, unless there's snow.

The zoo has its Zoo Lights attraction after dark that usually runs to New Year's Day. Get tickets in advance as that day is packed by those doing it at the end.
