That's arguable. Someone that is willing to commit the type of crime tint laws are meant to prevent aren't going to worry about the tint law.

Related Topic: Window Film for autos.

I have an appointment to have my sedan's side and rear window tinted with 3M's top quality product. The biz owner says it blocks UVB rays, where as the less expensive stuff only blocks UVA. He quoted me $400 for the entire car. Seems high, but I don't want junk film on my windows, and heat rejection is a MAJOR goal here in the hot desert.

Opinions?? Alternative brands to 3M?

PS- I think biz owner is a little mistaken re: the UVA issue. From what I learned in college, plain window glass blocks UVA (but not UVB.)

Im not sure about UVA vs. UVB but I do know that 3m offers several levels of tint in regards to quality. There is metalic, which here is a bit cheaper but the downside is potential cell phone reception issues and more glare at night. The Dyed tint has a longer warranty, no glare at night but costs a bit more.

There was a 3rd type that would have ran ~700 for my whole car and its not dark tint, but it was INSANE how much thermal protection there was. They had a heat lamp set up and you couldnt even feel any heat through it vs. all the others that clearly allowed much more heat to pass through.
