Hi all,
I will be moving with my family to the Denver-area this summer and I'm looking for a neighborhood in Denver-metro that is walkable to shops, restaurants, etc...in an excellent school district. I know that Cherry Creek schools are great, but I'm struggling to find if there are any walkable areas there; we head out to take a look next week so for now, I've been relying on Google Maps Satellite view and realtor.com!

Budget would be max $750k for 4-5 br

Thanks in advance.

We don't have "towns"in the New England sense. It's mostly contiguous suburbs.

Where is work?

Your best bet would be the part of congress park in the bromwell school district. A few blocks east is teller which is decent as well.

I have two kids, 6 and 7. They will be entering 1st and 2nd.

I am uncertain where work will be right now. It is for the Denver Public Schools but in an admin position, traveling between schools, I think. Details being worked out, as it is a new position for the district.

I am used to a commute, so anything within 45 min would be ok. The big criteria is the schools and walkable area.

I appreciate your help; going into this blindly is a little crazy!

Pick by DPS elementary school boundaries.
Must live within.
Bromwell, Steck, Edison, Cory.

For example, https://www.zillow.com/homes/for_sale/52963899_zpid/
Edison is better than its rating of 6.
You can spit to Tennyson Street shopping.

I'd add Park Hill and Steele Elementary to this list. If you are looking for a place through high school, you'll want to narrow your selection to a school feeding into East High.

Thanks for the great info.

I am not sure I want to be in the DPS, not because of the quality of schools but more because I've generally tried to not have my kids attend schools in the same district in which I work (especially as an admin).

Are there any 'burbs that meet that somewhat walkable criteria?

Again, thanks for the help.
