My husband and I just signed a contract to build a house with RAH, I was just curious if anyone who has built with them could tell me the cost for upgrading your standard cabinets to the next level up (level 1)?? Thanks!

Each builder is different and each little cabinet upgrade will cost extra, so the higher you go in the cabinet upgrade realm the more it will cost. What I like to do is have a set budget going in and an idea of what you really want to upgrade, then work the budget around that and track it as you go! If you don't go in with a budget you will end up spending a whole lot more that you didn't really want to spend.

Also, focus on the things that will help you the most when you go to sell your property in the future

Have fun putting together your new home!

i didn't build with RA but no one can give you an answer because it will depend on the model - different models have different numbers of cabinets so the cost will vary.

Can you ask your sales person for the price list for your model? I had the list - I didn't know what level/style cabinet I was going to pick out until I actually went to the design center for my builder and saw them in person, but at least I had some general concept of the pricing. FWIW, I ended up going up several levels over the course of doing all my design center picks because I decided it was worth it to me to get the exact style and color I wanted. I had my planned budget and then just added and subtracted the various upgrades and options until I figured out the combination that got me the majority of what I wanted for the price I was ok with paying.

I will say that I have zero regrets for any of the upgrades I did, my only regrets are for a couple of things I opted out of doing because I was trying to stick to the budget. Now I wish I had just gone ahead and spent the extra $2000 those options would have cost.

I went and pulled out my price list. Noting that my kitchen is on the smaller side, with a limited amount of cabinets, plus these are 3 year old prices with a different builder.

But just to give you a ball park, the upgrade pricing ranged from $2300 to $8400. That's whole house including the bathroom vanities. And once you got to a certain level, some of the add ons such as pull out shelving, dovetail joints, soft close doors and draws and cabinet hardware (knobs and pulls) were included.

We are just building with Taylor Morrison, so I cant directly compare and we have a medium sized kitchen, I believe the next level up was ~2500 bucks which did not add much, you really had to go a few levels up to actually get a nice cabinet.
