My husband and I are moving to Denver in beg of January. We are early 30s and like to be active and have green space for our dog/us and we also like to walk to bars and restaurants. We have been to Denver several times but never as residents. Any recommendations regarding what neighborhood we should target? We are not ready to be in the burbs, but do not need to be in the heart of the city. My husband will be working in Greenwood Village area and I will be working from home, so would like to be able to walk to coffee shops, etc.

Is most housing high rises, or are there homes with backyards for rent?

Appreciate any insight! THANK YOU!

There are plenty of single-family residences for rent. I would stay to the SE of Denver for ease of commute for hubby.

Greenwood Village and parts of Centennial are walkable to restaurants etc. You can find homes with backyards for rent but they won't be the cheapest. Maybe a townhome with a small yard could be a good start. There are a lot of dog parks here in Denver and it is very dog-friendly. Lots of people have their dogs out and about with them and lots of people will want to stop and talk to you about your dogs when you are out with them.

I would check out the East side of I-25 and E Dry Creek Road, there are lots of apartments but also homes tucked back there. Cute restaurants and things over there too and then IKEA, restaurants and a huge mall on the other side of the interstate.

S University and East Orchard in Greenwood Village is a cute area too. It is not exactly city living like it would be if living downtown but the commute will be so much better and you will find more parks and green space for the dogs.
