You don’t like 98KUPD in Phoenix, it looks similar based on playlists. I was disappointed when Edge 103.9 went away but that’s the nature of the times with terrestrial radio these days.

loco, I'll give KUPD more of a chance. Thanks.

Also, BTW. For all of my MANY lengthy complaints about the Chicagoland area, they had good FM rock stations when I lived there (80s, early 90s) RIP Chicagoland.

Did you listen to KTCL 93.3? They play tons of Alternative. KCKK 93.7 The Rock is another favorite station I like when I lived in Denver, they play stuff from the 60s to the 90s. The Oasis 95.1 in Phoenix is similar to The Rock, but they don't have stuff from the 60s.

^ Ya beat me to it. KTCL hooked me when I moved from the Boston area long ago, where we had several great FM stations.

FM radio is a form of audio-only broadcast media. Over 60% of Americans listen to FM radio daily on over 11,000 broadcast stations which bring in nearly $18 billion in revenue per year.

Approximately 49% of Americans credit FM radio for introducing them to new music compared to 27% from online music streaming services and 21% from social media.

I'm kind of surprised you haven't heard of it. You are really out of the loop.

LOL ^
daprara forgot to use the sarcasm font
KBCO was a great station in the 90s. Sad when they moved to Denver and became part of Clear Channel. Haven't listened for years. Is Ginger still on?

They're both very good FM markets. Denver is especially great. I always listened to 93.7 the rock when I lived there. It also had a 24 hour Stand up comedy station which I think is 92.3 or 93.1.

The NYC-metro area is by far the worst for variety, unless you're into talk radio. Rule of thumb (so I've heard) is bigger the city, the options worsen for FM choices. I've heard Detroit and Philly have excellent FM as well.

Point is moot for me since I just got Sirius installed

^^^ Wow, N6. That's not at all an answer that I would have expected (bigger the city, the FM is worse.)

I'm thinking Denver has better FM rock than Phoenix because Denver seems more popular with hipsters and millennials.

No idea about PHX - Denver just has a good variety of classic rock stations. So if one had commercials I'd just flip to the next one on my pre-sets. I feel like L.A. and NYC stations all have commercials at the same time.

One bad thing about Denver - morning shows. There are zero funny ones at all and I feel in L.A. they are all getting away with murder and competing with one another. CPR is also a freaking snore as well.
