LOL. This is a good one. Do you live on E-470 then pay $5-10 every time you want to leave the house? Because otherwise you're paying into the same government pools as the rest of us, and it's far cheaper than relying on toll roads. RTD customers pay their own way more than car-dependent people.

This is completely false. RTD fares cover about a quarter of their cost. The rest is subsidized by the public, including the majority of people who don't use the service.

As opposed to the 100% taxpayer funded public roads?

I bet over 95% of us didn't use the fire department last year. Should we get rid of them too?

Well, some studies have been done which show that we could get rid of the fire department and save money.
It turns out to be cheaper to just have a very few fire stations and write a large $500K+ check to the burned-out homeowner.

Needless to say: the topic is controversial.

Or could just say build houses out of non-flammable materials or else its on you, but no one dares say that. Also, I always wonder why someone has a health emergency and two fire trucks show up along with the paramedics. But what do I know?

Exactly, and sprinkler systems too. My house here in AZ has a sprinkler system. My homeowners insurance in COLO SPGS was $4,000/year when we left in 2016 and $400/year here in AZ because I have a sprinkler system and there's really no hail danger.

House in COLO SPGS was stucco with shingle roof. House in AZ is stucco with tile roof.

How did we get so off topic?
