No doubt the COL of any 'nice' city is getting very high, insanely so in some cities. Given that the situation is nationwide then it boils down to a case of 'wherever you go -- there you are' and there's just no way around it. I've a nice house here in the Phoenix area, which IMO is affordable, though if I had the money I'd have a painted lady in SF, or a brownstone overlooking Central Park in NYC, or a baronial mansion on a canal in Miami, or a loft next to Pike Place Market in Seattle, or I'd have them all if I had Oprah's money. But alas, I'm just a schlepp in a tract home, loving my egg sandwich every morning and glad I escaped grinding poverty of Baltimore so many years ago. Don't worry, be happy.
