We are in the process of looking at catholic schools for our daughter in the South Metro Denver area and wanted to know if anyone has any experience with St. Thomas More in Centennial or other catholic schools in the area. We are relocating from California so all our current interactions with the schools unfortunately are virtual / phone.

Any insight would be great!!

I haven't heard anything specific one way or another about St. Thomas More, but the best known Catholic schools in the Denver area are St. Mary's Academy (K-12, with the high school being girls-only), Good Shepherd (K-8) and for high school St Mary's, Regis Jesuit and Mullen. If money were no object, I'd probably pick St. Mary's - great academics, great emphasis on educating young women, and the best view of the Rockies in the Denver area

Due to a couple moves early in their school careers, my kids have attended three K-8 Catholic schools in the Denver metro (including St. Thomas) and our experience was that they're all pretty much the same. St. Thomas did have the nicest facility of the schools we attended. Ultimately we ended up at our neighborhood public school until this year, which was a transition year, so we again looked at private schools, which brings me to this: There was a significant increase in private school demand this year, so the biggest issue that you'll have is getting in if you're applying for any year other than ECE or Kinder. The exception would be St. Mary's, but you'll pay 3x as much as at a traditional parochial school.

The exception is St. Mary's Academy. It is a private Catholic school that is run by the Sisters of Loretto in Cherry Hills.

There is another Catholic school that is run by the Archdiocese of Denver called St. Mary's of Littleton. Its tuition is similar to the other Archdiocesan schools like St. Thomas More, All Souls (Old Englewood), Our Lady of Lourdes (South Denver) or Most Precious Blood (Southeast Denver). There is a Catholic school in Parker, Ave Maria, that is run by the diocese of Colorado Springs (all of Douglas County is in the Diocese of Colorado Springs).

Our Lady of Lourdes is a Classical (liberal arts) education. It is different from the rest.

For what it's worth, Mullen High School (Christian Brothers) and Regis High School (Jesuits) are private schools like St. Mary's Academy. The Archdiocese of Denver has only two high schools in the Denver area -- Holy Family in Broomfield and Bishop Machebeuf in East Denver.
