Article from today's (August 9, 2008) Denver Post about last night's rain, (with more possible again tonight):

Flashfloods still possible today
Quote:
Isolated rainshowers are possible again tonight, following a deluge Friday night in which Denver firefighters answered more than 200 flashflood calls.
"This is considered flash flood season," said Todd Dankers, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Boulder. "However, the threat for super heavy rain has reduced."
Denver firefighters rescued 18 people trapped in their cars last night during a 2 1/2-hour span, District 3 Fire Chief Terry Neiman said this morning. . .

I'm in Central Aurora, uh yeah, it was right on top of us last night. It was coming down in sheets, with loud thunder and bright lightning. Lost the DirecTV for about 1/2 hr. Power flickered on and off a few times. Both yards looked like mini-lakes. 3-year-old was afraid to walk in the house from the van parked in the driveway. Peed his pants. Girlfriend looked hot after walking in from the van. I was sitting at home and didn't need to be outside, I just sat back and enjoyed the show. When I left home, the roads were still pretty wet. Went up to Thornton, and noticed they got no rain....or very little.

We were stuck on I-25 for over an hour trying to get from Greenwood Village to Arvada. GRRRR. When we got to the spot that was horridly flooded, most of it had receded, but the traffic was still backed up. Not fun when you've skipped that restroom break in Greenwood Village...

We saw lots of violent looking weather to the northeast, but hardly a drop here in Centennial. Looked like a replay this afternoon while we were out to lunch, and we expected to come home in a torrent, but once again, nothing.

Default timing was off

The timing of that storm was a little off...right during the Olympic Opening Ceremonies and my cable was flickering out.

Well, I guess mother nature doesn't consider my personal schedule. *shrugs*

Nothing much in Centennial here. Some rain but very little. We did have a lot of lightning. I took few pics of that and posted it in the bottom of the //www.city-data.com/forum/color...-photos-2.html thread.

Not much in Louisville. The street was wet, that's all.
