I currently rent an aparment near Cheesman park and commute to my job north of I-70 off of Havana which takes about 20 minutes depending on traffic. I interested in buying a house within the next year that would cut my commute down closer to 10 minutes so I could come home during my lunch break to walk my (future) dog.

I am a single male nearing 30 y.o. and do not have any kids so school quality is not a top priority. I would like to spend no more than $300,000 all inclusive (house, repairs, furnishing, etc.). for a SFH, probably a 3/2, in a safe area relatively free from petty crime.

I have read through many threads regarding the Denver housing market and northern Denver & Aurora have not been painted in a very positive light. Does anyone have any recommendations? Street names/intersections would be helpful.

Thank you in advance to all that respond.

Thank you for the suggestion. Stapleton was the first area that I looked at and seemed to be a very family oriented neighborhood. This may be good in that it should remain a desirable area to live in and home values could hold steady. To those that live there or visit are there a decent amount of single people in the neighborhood?

14 out of 71 houses, and 20 out of 25 condominiums are sub $300K.

North Park Hill - Quiet, safe neighborhood. Housing is cheaper. I would stay south of MLK Blvd. I live off of 29th and Holly, and it is a safe area. None of my neighbors have anything bad to say about crime.
