To whom it may concern, I am from Detroit, MI and have spent the past week in Denver and other parts of Colorado. For the most part, everything that I have been told in this forum has proven true. Denver is a wonderfull city with a very clean and modern downtown and alot more to offer in a rapid growing metro area. The weather is very mild and nice when compared to the Midwest, the mountians or Front Range are absolutely gorgeous, and I found the people to be both friendly and helpful everywhere that I went. My only concerns for the city of Denver are the "rush-hour" traffic and pollution, which occurs in any other big city. From what I observed there is a slight gang-related crime problem in but nothing more than other major city. There is also a lack of racial diversity for such a large city becuase I found most people to either be white or hispanic; very few black people when compared to cities in the Midwest, Where are they hiding? Despite the good and bad of Denver, I have seen enough to agree to move there from Michigan over the next few weeks!

OMG Opening Day, when all hope springs eternal. When boys become men. When our Colorado Rockies take on the Arizona snakes.

I think you'll like living in theDenver area (I know I do!)
Anyway, my only advice is live close to your work. The traffic is tremendous, and every morning it seems there's a traffic accident that ties traffic up for hours.
The other thing I noticed is that auto insurance here is high... my premiums nearly doubled (and I get discounts for a clean driving record and low mileage).
I don't know anything about the racial diversity here - I think people live where they want, and maybe Colorado isn't appealing to everyone.

I think it depends on your perspective and experience. For example, we moved here from Phoenix and I'd say there is NO traffic in Denver . .at least in comparison to Phoenix and other large cities. Also, our auto insurance rates dropped in half from moving to Denver from Phoenix. So, it really depends on where you've been. Denver is certainly reasonable in both areas compared to other metro areas, imo.
