I am a 25 y/o F moving to Denver from Tampa, Fl. I like being in the heart of the city wherever I am. Where is the best area to move if I want to be in walking distance of bars/restaurants/shopping, etc?

I'd say Capitol Hill, my neighbor across the hall Rick just moved here from Tampa in June. He's doing quite well after the move.

Brains - Cap Hill
Soul - LoDo
Heart - Wash Park

Good choice, I just moved here from Orlando. But I'm tired of Floridians so please don't move here.

If your looking for the center of the action, they have the Rio Grande Lofts right off the 16th street mall at around $700-$800 for a 1 bed. With the amount of clubs within walking distance, you wouldn't miss Tampa at all.

But seriously, stay in Florida.

That is very useful info! Thanks! I too am sick of Floridians. I live in Hyde Park in Tampa now and work at two really popular restaurants bartending/waitressing and all it is is faux-money. There is no culture...just pretentious entrepreneurs with their yachts and beamers...

Don't mean to be bitter...! It is just true.

We moved to north Florida partly to get away from the yuppies that were flooding Denver. Check out LoDo on Friday night or Cherry Creek North on Saturday morning and you'll know what I am talking about.
I agree with the suggestion of Capitol Hill.
I think there is more personality (and fewer puddles of vomit) in Capitol Hill than in LoDo. Pockets of Washington Park/DU as well as Country Club North have the occasional affordable rentals.

Yeah, I remember Hyde Park. That reminded me a little of Winter Park in Orlando. And yes Cherry Creek is Denver's Winter Park- therefore similar to Hyde Park.

But indeed Capitol Hill is another story. It's a very safe and convenient neighborhood with Whole Foods and King Soopers within walking distance. It also has the SoCo clubs nearby on Broadway and plenty of funky bars and shops around the area.

However, LoDo is definitely gonna be my home when they finally build the full-sized grocery store on 19th and Chestnut. Not long after that, Union Station will be done and LoDo will be the transit hub of the entire Denver metro.
