I had some leftover ham from the holidays and grabbed a packet of bean soup mix from Safeway. It turned out to be part of this Denver-based program, which seems really neat. Thought I'd let you all know to keep an eye out for it.

Since moving here, I've been really impressed with some of the creative and enthusiastic outreach programs in this area. Way to go, Denver!

And btw, the soup was dee-lish!

Thank you for pointing this McZabe! Here is a link to the Women's Bean Project in case others want to know what it is:

To go along with being one of the fittest cities in the country, Denverites have a strong awareness of non-profits and those in need. There are tons of events to participate in for charity, everything from The Race for a Cure to the AIDS Walk Colorado. The Moonlight Bike Ride is one of my favorites. It usually takes experiencing a disability first hand or with someone you know for these races and walks to become evident. But it is an even better feeling to help those in need when you haven't been affected by a disease or loss of income.

Annually, I will do the AIDS Walk Colorado and will deliver food for Project Angel Heart when I can. Just a few minutes of my time makes a world of difference to someone else in need. I have done the Diabeties Walk and the performed in a concert for Race for a Cure. The energy in helping is fantastic and one of the reason I post here, to help those in need.

Here are some links to volunteer not just money, but time and care:

What great links! Thanks for posting, DA. We'll be combing through them looking for more activities/events for our family to participate in. Just another reason we're so happy to be here!

I thought for sure that King Soopers carried their stuff...according to the website, nope. Huh.

Hopefully a King Soopers employee runs across this and talks to someone, some where. KS is the largest chain in the state (with City Market) I would buy their products if it were available at KS.

Thanks for those events/dates! I'm definitely going to try to hit at least one.

Can you elaborate a bit on Ready, Set, Grow? Sounds interesting.
