We live in Whittier which is adjacent to Five Points. Five Points has a reputation for being crime-laden, which is true but this has really declined over the years. I routinely walk/drive through the area without trouble, but there is crime there and it's certainly not the safest area in Denver.

Would I walk through the worst part of the neighborhood at midnight? Maybe, but I'd avoid it. Would I want my wife walking through at midnight? No. During the day, however, it's fine and really the crime isn't bad except for a few small hotspots.

Five Points is gentrifying, but veerrry slowly. It's a vibrant area with a ton of cool people, and some diversity (racially, economically) which is actually rare in Denver from what I see. We love that part of Denver and are happy living there.

I never lived in the 5 points neighborhood, but I knew people that lived there back when I went to school in the early 90s. My cousin was a member of a hispanic gang that exist in the 5 points neighborhood. I think their clique was known as 36 avenue. I'm not sure if he was a member of the 25th street raiders. I also know there was a black gang living in 5 points known as the tre tre crips. people in the neighborhood would hear about their crimes. back then 5 points was a highly predominate black neighborhood with a small group of hispanics. There were a small number of hispanics and actually more blacks than whites at East High School because they came from 5 points. Now 5 points is a more white predominate neighborhood with more hispanics, and I heard that there are more whites than blacks at East High School. My uncle actually lived with his girlfriend on 25th a Ogden back in 2011, and he had one incident where black gang members broke into his apartment. He turned them in, and they even threatened him later to get out of the neighborhood. I'm not sure now if
