My husband got a job in Johnston in Iowa. We are planning to buy a house in a good school district because we have two kids who are all in middle school. Is there anyone who can give us some suggestions? How about Johnston and Urbandale? which one is better in terms of school? Any suggestions are highly appreciated.

Both are excellent areas with great schools. I think Johnston has the better schools, but don't quote me on that. Also, depending on where you are coming from housing is cheap. Comparative to other parts of the country.

Thanks for your response. Actually I am going to move to Iowa( the working place is Johnston) from Minesota. I will take the school into consideration the first when I decided where to buy a house. By the way, where can I find the rank of middle or high school? Thanks.

Default Some Advice

I personally read the Des Moines Register (the un-official) state newspaper daily. Due to the knowledge that I have, I would prefer to live in Johnston instead of Urbandale for many reasons. Johnston is nice sized, well located, has an excellent school system, and is extremely close to Saylorville Lake and lake associated recreation. Urbandale has its advantages, however I feel that Johnston would be a better pick.

I've lived in the Des Moines Metro area my whole life. That's many, many moons. If I had to choose between them

Johnston.

Check the areas just north and east. There some nice wooded areas there.
