Has anyone had their sewer line replaced in the area? I have a big problem with tree roots and snaking it out isn't really doing the trick any more. I got quoted for $2200-$3,000 by the Drain Surgeons.

How much did you pay, who did you use, etc?

I used to have my line snaked every three months or so , I'd get alittle backup in my basement . The company doing the snaking determined that it was tree roots causing the problems and it was located just about to our sidewalk . I lived in Center Line , the city owns from the sidewalk to the street . My landlord complained to the city about his costs to keep having the drain snaked and wanted something done about it , they wouldn't cut down the tree by the street . They contracted a company to dig up my yard(small area ) Apparently the city here is responsible for a portion of the drain that runs up into my yard . Check with your city , ask the people who do the snaking about how far out from the house does the snake meet resistance , they can also put a camera of some sort in the drain and verify its tree roots or a damaged pipe . I'd try going to the city first before I'd pay anyone . we didn't pay a penny and others on my street had the same thing done .

Unfortunitely the problem is only about 10 feet in front of my house. It is also my neighbor's tree. I wish I could make him pay for it!
