If any of the 10 of us who frequent this forum had a story to tell, I'm sure it would be told by now.

Such a huge factory. I'd figure there would be an interesting story behind it

Well...part of it is that it closed around 1958. Factoring in dwindling population and how many children of those workers that actually visit this forum or even still live in Michigan seems very low.

Pretty amazing considering that at any one time while it was open, upwards of 11,000 people would be working there.

I actually drove by the Packard the other day, and I'm more curious about the residents who live across the street from the place. There's still a whole neighborhood around there full of occupied houses. Pretty good number in decent shape. Maybe one of them has a story to tell about Packard.

Is the old Packard building the same building where there was a paintball course inside in the early to mid-1990s?

I drove by this place yesterday and noticed many squished cats laying in the intersection of Grand Blvd and McDougall.

I also noticed the HID lighting that used to illuminate the SW edge of the Packard Property is no longer working. Strange considering it was dark.
