OK, the name sounds awful.

However it is a very funny musical that will be presented by the Park Players in North Rosedale Park (Detroit).

It is actually not crass as the name would imply. It is a satire on big business, popularism (i.e. the 99% movement), musicals, and society in geenral. It is fine for kids and families. It is actually a Tony Award winning musical that was an off and on Broadway hit for some time.

Performances are as follows:

Friday March 16 Dinner theater performance 6:30 p.m. $30

Saturday MArch 17 General Performance 8 p.m. $16

Sunday March 18 Soup/Salad Lunch performance 1 p.m. $22

Friday March 23 General Performance 8 p.m. $16

Saturday March 24. Wine & Cheese performance 7 p.m. $25

Sunday March 25 Matinee Performance $16 (students & Seniors $14)

Friday March 30 NRPCA benefit prfrm (Coffee & Dessert) 7 p.m. $25

Saturday March 31, final general performance 8 p.m. $16.

This show is suprisingly funny. I saw a preview of some scenes and fell out of my chair laughing. It is remarkably good community theater and a good way to support culture and arts in Detroit. It also makes a nice date night alternative to dinner and a movie. See live theater, show some class, and have a fun time too. (Just make it a surprise - "Honey tonight I am taking you to Urinetown" - probably will not go over so well).

If you have never been to North Rosedale Park, go early and drive around for a few minutes before you park, or if it is nice, walk around. It is a remarkable neighborhood. The architectural variety is outstanding. Small houses, but really neat ones. I have not seen one house there that is not remarkable.

The community center wher ethe theater is located is pretty neat too. It is a very nice stage for a community theater group.

The address is 18445 Scarsdale, Detroit MI 48223

It is near Redford Township.
