Notice there is no Chilis Grill in southfield. I was surprised when I was looking for a middle location to hang out with some people. Was there ever one in southfield? With all the office jobs I'm shocked one is not open near 12 and telegraph

As far as I can remember I don't recall seeing one. And I used to go over that way quite often during the 90s. That Best Buy used to be a Media Play while originally they were across the street where that LA Fitness is now (guess they figured being a few hundred feet closer to the off-ramp would help business).

And no Chili's sticks out in my mind going up along Northwestern highway, but I could be wrong. It's been a while since I've been that way.

Southfield just got slightly cooler in my perception.

Not to hijack the thread.....but.

One restaurant that would clean up in Michigan (assuming that there isn't one) is Cheesecake Factory.

For the lack of Chili's? Or for the Media Play?

There was a Media Play in Livionia across the street from Wonderland Mall (now Walmart) on Plymouth and Middlebelt, and there also was one in Clinton Township on Gratiot and 15 Mile.

I feel really nerdy for feeling like one of the few frequent customers of that store.

There's also a Chili's in front of that Walmart now. Go figure. I also remember when they built that Walmart and local Livonian residents had complained that it'd draw in the "unwanted" crowd.

For the lack of a Chilis. I dislike major chain restaurants.

Oakland County in general isn't that big on chains. There's hardly any Applebees, Red Lobsters, Olive Gardens, etc. They're usually either in Novi, Madison Heights, or Pontiac/Waterford. Fast food chains usually only get as far north as Royal Oak before reappearing in Pontiac. The come as far west as Madison Heights/eastern Troy before they start to sprinkle in around Novi and Farminghton Hills. Though Subway's are certainly more prevalent.

For a suburban county, OC is pretty good on non-chain establishments.
