Have an old one that is barely giving enough hot water for 3 people to bathe in the morning. What type of water heater and brand do you recommend for this type of michigan weather? My current connection is for a gas water heater.

Thanks!

What size and how old is your current one? Maybe go 20 gallon bigger if you have the size or get a faster rate recovery one. Just be sure your gas line and exhaust is capable of the higher btu of a faster recovery. otherwise your cost will go up.

An easier solution if yours isnt to old is to turn the temp up a little and use the cold water at the shower to turn the temp down or go to a 1.5 gpm shower head. Just dont tell anyone about the lower gpm and they probably wont be able to tell.

This question would probably get more and better responses on the House forum.

Or go to your experienced neighborhood hot water heater purveyor and they'll know and carry what works.
I bought my last one from a local hardware store for less than Home Despot and Lowes quoted me. No clue what brand but it's worked fine for 8 years so far. I think it was about $300. I paid around $100 to a handyman to install it.
