The D speaks to Chinese biz

In the last few weeks, the David Scott and Free Press buildings were bought by Chinese investors in an auction. Over the next several years, it might be more common to see Chinese companies investing in Detroit, not just in the city but across the metro as the economy improves.

Growth in China is showing signs of a slow down and investors are looking elsewhere to make money. Detroit, with its low price of real estate and manufacturing heritage, is seen as an opportune city for investment.

Crain's article makes mention of a Chinese Yatch building company possibly interested in developing along Detroit's waterfront or along Lake St. Clair and setting up yatch manufacturing elsewhere in the metro.

Ironically, Detroit's bankruptcy seems to have generated more interests from Chinese investors. If and when Detroit emerges out of bankruptcy, there might come a flurry of foreign investment. It's hard to guess how much just based on this article alone but how would Detroiters feel about the Chinese possibly rebuilding the city or at the very least becoming a very big part of it?

I dont think it matters who from outside of the city helps and is part of the changes that are going on and need to go on. From what you stated that the article said it sounds like the chineese would be bringing jobs to detroit and surronding area and that is a good thing in my opinion. As long as who ever is going to invest in the city has good intentions then i saw the more the merrier. I dont understand why people look at people as being outsiders and that is bad or that if they arent the same color, race, religion and so on that it is a bad thing. Diverstiy is a great thing. People are people plain and simple. the are good people, bad people, lazy people ect but they are all people.

there are already many chineese companies in detroit and mi See list of Chinese-owned companies in Michigan: mostly auto parts, mostly Detroit area | MLive.com

Ps. i am very well awear that the idea that people are just people and it shouldnt matter race or religion ect is an thought that unfortunetly not nearly enough people have and isnt the way the majority think.
