Northwestern Highway between Orchard Lake Road and 12 mile was repaired just last year. Now, it's falling apart. Coming north from 696 I counted several small potholes in the brand new road along the way. Going south, there's a few small potholes and road edge crumbles in at least two places. This is a shame. It's shady work and waste of taxpayers' money.

The roads in SE Michigan are the worst in any state I've been, most 3rd world countries I visited had better roads. The corrupt officials and their road construction mafia buddies aren't being held accountable for stealing our tax money, and the Metro residents don't do anything about this... shame.

In other breaking news - every major freeway in Metro Detroit is littered with trash year round. Yet no one cares.

Yep... as I said, it's Louisiana of the North. One big (albeit multiracial) ghetto.

When our kids grow up, they will leave and we'll follow. There are far better places to live.

In the meantime, the next election I am voting against every incumbent. Not that it would change anything, but at least makes me feel better.

We prefer the term "Michissippi."

How about "Migeria"... I think it's a better fit. At least they actually do have good roads in Mississippi.

I was just in metro Detroit a couple months ago and I was also shocked by how bad the roads were. I know it snows for months on end but other states have to deal with that as well. None of them have as poor road quality as Michigan does.

If enough people start suing the living ***** out of the state on a regular basis I bet MDOT will step their game up.

Do you have spare $ for the lawsuits ?

Need to vote against the incumbents, people like Patterson have been in the office far too long.

All governments and corporations typically set aside enough money in their budget to settle lawsuits.

There would have to be a TON of lawsuits to convince them to do things differently.
