Sometimes I think they could just stop the elections altogether and declare a dictatorship and nobody would lift a finger, people would just ***** and moan for a few months and then go back to life as usual. We have the government we deserve and the roads we deserve. Somebody brought up Canada, we have a lot to learn from them. They are a small population in a huge country most of which is in a very harsh climate and yet their life quality is overall somewhat better than ours. They make the same or more money for the same jobs, they pay a bit more in taxes but get much better services for it, they have far better schools, good medical care, and very decent pensions. And excellent roads. Their consumer goods are more expensive, but it's a matter of small market with more expensive logistics costs. A lot of Canadians are working here - again, the US is just a much larger jobs market simply because of the sheer size - but not one that I know plans to retire in Michigan, it's Florida or Ontario for them.
