Hello. I just moved here. Need a haircut. My hair is moderately wavy. When I was in Columbus, I went to the "white" barber shop, though the guys there were comfortable w/ "ethnic" hair.

When I was in DC, I went to the regular barber shop, which caters to people w/ "white" or "ethnic" hair, but not really curly hair (the kind some people call "black" hair). They could cut that hair though, and had one (immigrant) guy who seemed really comfortable w/ it.

The top of my hair must be scissor-cut. I prefer that sides and the back to be faded down low, though not quite bald.

Where should I go to get a haircut? I won't go to a traditionally "black" barbershop because I have not had good experiences there. They try to treat my hair like "black" hair and it doesn't go well. I live downtown and would prefer something w/n walking distance. Am willing to travel if absolutely must.

Thanks.

There are barbers in Cadillac Square right next to the 7-11 or also in 1001 Woodward by Bellacinos that both have experience with that. Good luck!
