We had some terrible experiences with Henry Ford in Wyandotte. The hospital itself was ok but not impressive, but the emergency room/ triage/emergency admittance and care process was terrible - twice. I am not likely to go there again for any reason, unless we have no choice.

Family members consistently had bad experiences at Beaumont. (misdiagnosis, poor care, failiure to watch during treatment that caused an allergic reaction). Their ads claim that they are big time heart specialists, but I am skeptical given the experineces that members of my family had with them. I think that it is funny that they advertise that they have U-M doctors on call. Why not just go to U-M?

We had good experiences and have heard nothing but good things about DMC for children. Never had an adult there.

If I had cancer or some other serious illenss, I think that I woudl try to go to U-M if possible. It depends ont he condition. I might try to check out Henry Ford in Detroit as well, but after the fiasco that we had in Wyandotte, I am not terribly likely to go to Henry Ford unless somehting convinces us that it is much much better.

To throw yet another one into the mix, my parents like Providence (in Novi). I was not really excited by them though. For little things, Oakwood or whatever they call it now, seems to be pretty decent.

To me it is less the hospital and more the docter you choose or get. I have been to U of M,Beaumont,Henry Ford, out of state to places like Cleveland Clinic,UCLA I could go on. I have a lot of health problems anyhow what I have found is sometimes the best known is not always the best. It is important to find a doc who treats the condition you suffer from but also who is willing to listen and look out of the box.
