I have alot of Family in Detroit that are burnied there. Will I move them?, I don't think so. My Grand Mother had 9 sisters and I believe they are all burnied there. But it is a shame, talk about the White Flight this takes it to a whole new level
The only way for Detroit to turn around is to have all new City Goverment, People who live in the city, from each area a person should be voted in by the neighbors, Give the people of Detroit a real chance at changing Their Neighborhoods, Not just hopeing the city will do something. And all the money goes to the Downtown areas, Where Family and Friends of City Officals run their businesses. The People need to run the city, make it that all workers and Police and Fire memebers live in the city and maintain a residences within the city limits. Start working with HomeOwners with Block Grants to repair their Homes, Use the people in Wayne County Jails to work on Chain Gangs and clean the city streets, repair run down houses for Families to move into. Have them clean up the empty lots. I mean there is so much that can be done if People would just get off the ME ME ME! TRIP. Do any of you remember John F. Kennedy who said "Ask what you can do for your Country, Not what can your Country do for You!"
We have lived the Days of "Keeping up with the Jones" Now America is seeing a readjustment of ATTITUDE. Alot of people got a big slap in the face now haven't they? Time to refigure Our Game Plan,

I agree, as I said before I have not yet moved to Detroit and am still naive but honestly I would consider buying a flat in Detroit city if I thought other ppl had the same attitute, it could be a great city again if enough ppl and businesses started to move back in.

I´m from Detroit left there in 85 and don´t regret it. I live in Germany and will be coming homing back next month, but not to Detroit. They are to wild for me I can´t count how offten i had a gun in my face. I was 8 years in the army, in the frist Gulf war and still don´t like guns. they always hurt the wrong people.

My father made me promise never to come back to Detroit to visit the family graves, it was that unsafe then. I always kept my promise!

The cemetery where my parents are buried is in a very crime ridden area of town. My father stopped going to visit my mother's grave after he was held up at knife point while going to put flowers on her grave. After that we were afraid to visit the graves (my grandparents are there, too). He figured I'd be safe enough for the funeral, during the day, with a group, but never to come back.I honor his request.
I've read about other poeple moving their loved ones to another cemetery, but that would not be practical for us, since we do move often. I just wish they were in a better place-----but they are!

I would have no problem residing in Detroit if I were already dead. They cannot kill me again. I do not know why anyone would want to visit a lump of ground where my body was buried to dispose of it after I am done with it. then again I have never had anyone really close to me dies (except a high school Friend) so maybe I just do not understand the desire to visit the site of a burial.
