A friend emailed me, asking me what restaurant occupied the building before the National opened in 1994. I googled in vain.

Does anyone here know?

Thank you.

I want to say it was a bowling alley...but that could have been at 12/rochestor...

If I remember to ask my dad I'll report back...went by it countless times as a kid.

I ended up asking my mom. It was a supper club called Mr. Christian's. Thanks for the help.

It was called he Belanger House for many years before it was owned by Mike Christian and Lanny. I actually knew both of them. Partied there many times in my youth. I would have like to have seen it stay there.

Actually, the upstairs of the building was more for dining and the downstairs was the nightclub part.

Mr. Christians & Jameson's Lounge. One was in the basement; I don't remember which.
