Another Episode of House Hunters Made Detroit Look Really Good (Harper Woods: loft, condo)

It was on a couple of nights ago. A young couple was looking for a historical property in the city of Detroit. The husband was from a suburb of Detroit and preferred to buy in a suburb, but his wife was Korean and had grown up in Seoul, so she wanted to be in the heart of the city. They looked at a converted warehouse loft near the riverfront, a gorgeous old house in Indian Village, and a condo in one of the upper levels of the newly renovated Westin Book Cadillac. They ultimately went with the condo in the Westin.

Man, did they make Detroit look desirable and livable! God bless HGTV for showcasing Detroit and God bless them for showing how much potential it has as a great place to live. They showed gorgeous views of the riverfront and the Ambassador Bridge, and the house in Indian Village had an amazing, shady, lush, green lawn with a flagstone patio that looked so inviting. That house was also full of Pewabic pottery tile accents, including at least half a dozen fireplaces and an amazing sunroom.

Someone else started a thread here not too long ago about another episode of HH that also showed the Detroit area in a very positive and attractive light. Whenever these are on, I feel like saying, "So THERE, America! Don't know it all, do ya?"

I've seen both episodes. I'm still trying to pinpoint where in Harper Woods the one chick bought her house. I always keep my eye out for her.

I watched this the other night and was very pleased . It's nice to see my old hometown looking livable and happy, rather than the images that are usually thrown at those of us who are living far away....
