Try eliminating all wheat and grains, they cause major spikes in blood sugar. I'm trying it now. It's not easy to do, but I feel way better and not bloated.
I am a full type 2 diabetic and have been on a low carb diet for about 9 months now. My A1C is down to a 5.4 (from 7.3). I am not on insulin and do not want to be. Medications become less and less effective over time unless diet comes in to play, then you can reduce the dosage. I dont keep an exact count but I aim for about 50g carbs per day. As has been stated, avoid grains, starches and sugars. Essentially carbs are the same as sugars at the molecular level.
To the OP: It looks like you really should watch you diet carefully. It will be the only thing that keeps you from being a full diabetic. Pay now or pay later. Avoid this disease at all costs. It is not fun and you can still reverse the process.
