I just verified that this glucose meter is reading 40 points too high by testing before my lab tests and again in the doctor’s office. The doctor suggested I change the battery and try again and, if it is still reading high, to return it. I did those things but the new meter is still reading high.

I was wondering if anybody else has had a problem with this blood glucose meter.

I replaced the meter, so it must be a bad batch of test strips. I got my A1C test results and it said, “Mean Plasma Glucose 115 mg/dL” my reading this morning was 195.

I've been using this meter for 7-8 years now and never had any issues with faulty or inaccurate readings.
You could pick up an accuracy test kit for your meter next time you are at Walmart = https://www.walmart.com/ip/OneTouch-...ution/44198245

I have some control solution and used it already. Have you compared the readings with other meters and/or commercial lab tests? I checked Consumer Reports and they say it has excellent accuracy. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Test strips say they expire in 2019.

I only have the one meter so i cant compare it to others but the pharmacist checks it every once in a while and she turned me on to the test solution.also my diabetic clinic asks me to bring the meter in at least once a year to check for accuracy,to date no problems.

Update: After being scared to death by One Touch, I would have preferred to go with a different brand but I checked my new insurance and it turns out that they will only pay for One Touch Verio strips. So the decision on what new meter to get was a no brainer. With the Verio Flex my readings are more consistent with my A1C. Whew!

re: bad test strips.... I opened a new bottle of them and I kept getting AM readings of around 180. Shocked me,
so I tried a new batch and it went way down. I never had that happen but good to know it can. OP, good you discovered the problem.

Yes, probably the strips but since my new insurance company would only cover the Verio strips (weird) I didn’t bother finding out. Just got a Verio Flex. Props to Rite Aid for giving me a full refund for both the machine and test strips.
