Mine went down to 22 and I didn't have any sweating, rapid heartbeat till after paramedics got to the house.

How low can your blood sugar go before it dangerous?

10 = death
18 = life and death
27 = coma

I don't think your meter is taking accurate readings. At 22 you should have been down for the count.
Not everyone gets the symptoms you described.

Take 2 dextrose wafers or drink a full tumbler glass of fruit juice. Follow with some cheese and crackers/toast and jam.

22 is diabetic coma territory or death.

As mentioned, your meter is off.

Your meter is off. Time for a new one? if your sugar was 22 you would be in a diabetic Coma. Now my husbands sugar the other morning was 73. that's very low for him. he is getting blood work tomorrow to see if his A1C is down from last year which was 9. He started eating very low carb before Christmas. What was your blood sugar in the emergency room? This would happen to my uncle, his sugar would be 300 one day or down to like 30 another day. He was insulin dependent. unfortunately he succumbed to a diabetic coma and died on 2008. He was 57 also a double amputee. How well do you control your diabetes? He was diagnosed at age 9.

I'm a type 2 Diabetic. I have a brand new Walmart blood meter only three months before this happened. Friend of mine went down to O and lived. She would stand up and fall. She went to hospital ER and they found it at 0.

Just because she went down to 0 and lived does not mean it will go that way for you. You seem very blasé about this. How old are you? Constant high sugars or drop in sugars as low as 22 effect your body long term and can cause permanent damage. your friend got lucky that's all. Why are you allowing your sugars to get so low? How long have you been diabetic? How often do you test your BS? Please take this more seriously because many diabetics don't.

She was in her 50's and I was 60 when this happened to me.

My new diabetic doctor wanted me to take 25 units of long acting insulin and 12 units of short insulin twice a day. After this happen she wants me to take 15 units and only 7 units twice a day.

A type 2 on insulin has to be very, very careful about getting low blood glucose. I'm surprised your doctor didn't take you off it altogether. You're being very nonchalant about this, it seems.

Do you count carbs?

I said the same thing he does not seemed to concerned over it. I would be. If my husbands sugar goes below 80 I get concerned. He gets his blood work test results back Monday night at the doctor visit. We are hoping his A1C is down because last time it was 8.9 and hoping to get off some of his meds he's on 4 diabetic pills. No insulin thankfully.
